Lodi, California: A military honor guard presents Sukhwinder Kaur with the American flag that had draped the coffin of her son. Parminder Singh Shergill, who served in the US Army during the first Gulf War and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, was shot by police near his home on January 25, 2014. Officers claim he lunged at them with a knife; witnesses dispute the police account. Shergill was buried with military honors.
